Grinding on vert is really different from Mini, ledges or rails.

It's like a mini except you have to wait a lot longer on the grinds. you really have to float into your grinds. Even when I do grinds on a 11' and then grinds on a 13.5' ramp they feel way differnt. I really have to make myself wait a long time before going into them. Like my 270 topacid when I do it sometimes I feel like I am way far out over the transition and I still end up on the deck because I didn't wait long enough. I mainly have this problem when I go from a small vert ramp to a biggger one.

Trueskater should donate some tips to this one. He destroys the coping on vert.

im having problems doing soul-based tricks. when i go up to the coping to grind my feet go on the coping in the right position, but i dont slide, instead i just travel over onto the deck. any tips?

Yeah, you are probably not carving it much, instead you are just riding straight up so the momentum throws you over the deck, to soul on vert you really want to carve alot into it, so when you lock in the momentum will make you grind instead of falling over.

i'm a newbie vert roller, i cant soul vert, but i can soul-based trick on mini. the carving aspect is the same. you need to lean more outward (away from the coping), you also need to bend you knees to lock in, as well as carve.

my best grind in vert is an ally-oop topside acid, i dont like doing ti becuase if i miss my lock it's a pretty good fall backwards. I got a minor concusion when i fell doing one once, hit my head on the coping then the flat bottom.

ive always sucked at grinding. royales and farvs are so much nicer, and easier. no concussions!
