The forward 900 is a very hard trick.
This is what I've found to be the most helpful parts of the trick.
Timing is so, so important on this trick. You really really have to be patient until you are at the vert to go into it. I have the habit of going into it too early. I also try to stay tight to the ramp by keeping my knees bent and not pumping too much riding up the ramp. The trick really likes to kick you into the flat or on to the deck so having the right distance from the coping is a key factor and the perfect take off.
When you feel feel your self ride off the vert throw your spin. Some people spin really bio and other straight, I spin it straight and really try to think 540. I've been told you can see much more when you spin bio but I've always found it easier to spin straight.
When I spin I use my hips, leeding skate, head and arms to spin. And really tighten up.
Sometimes I will do a couple 540's before I try the 9 just to get the feel for it. Think 540 when you try the 900 which will help figure things out.
If you are spinning straight you still need to drop your shoulder a little so that you have good entry coming in on the vert.
Most of this trick is timing, I've seen pros fall on this trick including myself just because we go into it too early. It's so easy to make that mistake. Get really good 5's and 7's, then put them together.
This is a dangerous and inconsistant trick. Many pros have been injured from this trick so I suggest great patients with it and to really think it through before trying it.
