Believe it or not but you actually have to pump up the coping in order to do souls properly. It took me a while to figure that out.

It's not enough to approach the coping at a shallow angle
or to lean into the pipe, you also have to pump upwards, otherwise you will fly out of the qp and onto the deck.

i had the same problem when i first started out ... i found the best thing to do was do a few stalls then try a small little carve and aim for a few inches of movement, then build up from there ... if you miss one then go back to the start and work on it all again ... until you get it perfect! also you need to make sure thaty you are balance properly, i used to imagine i had a bolt through my ankle hip and head, all balanced over the coping and keep your ass hanging over the ramp! hope atleast a small portion of that makes sense and helps

ok, i can lock on like every time now with a stall but still fall over the coping when i try and lean back. I can kinda grind it a little bit but then i still end up falling over the coping!! argh

one thing to look into is wax at my park that happens to me all the time when i try back torques and things like that if you feel you can lock it pretty good and feel sterdy on it then maybe try the wax be cautious with it tho one coat should be good.

The way I was taught was to cut hard into the ramp before the coping and "jump" (stop pumping and sort of float onto the coping" about 1.5 feet feet below to give yourself time get your feet in position. Other than that just make sure the coping is waxed and you have good speed.
