I think I figured out the secret to getting air. I found out by accident, but when I drop it, I carve up the ramp so it's not like I skating straight up & down but rather in a bigass circle around the ramp. Also, delay the time between passing the coping and 180ing to come back down. I may be on to something.

jeez, got a new toy here. k, wen u drop in, and go up to the other side, you dont JUMP out, you PUSH out. instead of jumping onto the platform, you jump more up and out, trying to get more air each time you do it

i think air its just getting some guts to do it, if the ramps got a vert, you just let yourself go, go all the way up to the end of it, and continue the natural motion, you dont need to jump, just continue on the same vector youre going, the vert will just send you up, then while in the air (no before) do the 180 with your waist, its pretty easy, as i said, you only need to overcome fear of going for it, you wont land of the ramp, as a matter of fact, youll just get where you started...
ill also go for the bigass circle, seems fun
remember wearing at least knee pads, if you fall just slide with them, its pretty safe, hope you get it

Thats rough ... the ramp i started my skating on was 8 foot hight, had about 2 inch of vert, was 12 foot wide, and cement. In hind sight, i cant beleive thats what we learned on, and the fact that it was cement ha ha, still makes me cringe in rememberance, cause we could only ride it so many times a week, just out of fear for self preservation. I would average breaking a buckle every week from crashing, and used duct tape and ice cream container on the toes of my skates, just so i wouldnt ware my socks out ha ha. Man those were the days ...

Your talking about Southampton UK? There is an out door vert ramp in Southsea, Portsmouth which is like 10-15 miles from you! Its about maybe 20-25ft wide and i think is now 12ft tall. its not a perfect ramp, but its sounds a hell of a lot better than riding something 8ft! Also there is an indoor vert ramp about 70 miles away which might be able to travel to from time to time. Its at a skatepark called "skaterham" in a place called Caterham. Its in an old church, its only 20ft wide, its 11ft high (10ft high transition and 1ft of vert) although its not a huge ramp, but it is a really nice shape, a friend of mine built it to the same dimensions as the demo ramp which we skate, which is really nice. Let me know if you need any more details of the locations.

Cement vert? Holy shit that's nuts. I've fallen from atop a woody. I was fortunate enought to only get winded. I can't imagine what a cement fall would feel like. Man, how did you guys learn some of these tricks before there was a Woodward?

well on this topic i can finally say that i have reached out and surpassed a fear. i cant say i ca constantly air this high but it was just a miracle that i was able to nail the walls perfectly to get this high. well we were practicing walls in seattle and i kept trying to see how high i could get but usually i have problems with landing the wall perfectly for the next wall to get higher. when i was practicing the walls i would get somewhat higher but my highest would only average 4ft right around there.

Well we were taking pictures and i told my friend that just to take pictures and we would take turns. Well i did my first wall landed it clean, then the second wall landed it clean and wear i usaualy start having problems i was able to boost higher on my third wall and laced it clean for the approach on the 4th wall well when threw the 4th wall i boosted i dont know how high but a large air none the less and managed to pull off a clean grab. Which made it even better was that david snapped it perfectly with the right exposure and shutter.

This is my first big air over 5ft and happy at least i got it on camera.
