Pumping? Thats how you get up and down the ramp by bending your knees on the transition.
Hey, I need a bit of help. I just started aggressive... though I've been doing general skating for ages. Anyway, there's a mini halfpipe in the skatepark that's about 5 ft but no vert section that I've started on, but no matter how hard I try to pump I *can't* make it up to the coping from the flat bottom.
I'm not sure if it's my technique that's problemetic.
When you pump, d'you pump both up and down? And when d'you do the squatting and pushing or the 'pop'? And d'you keep pushing in as you travel across the flat bottom, or d'you only push again when you're approaching the transition?
Thanks for your help!

just keep at it. when I first started on vert I couldn't pump to the top from the flat. but your legs will get stronger over time and you will make it to the top. and yes, pump up and coming back down.

no, wen ur going down the vert part from the top, you pump down at the transition, then wen u get to the other side where your going up, you pull your weight up the ramp by lifting yourself at the transition point
On the way up, I find that when I push after the transition (right when the ramp starts to get vertical) I get a lot more speed. From there, if I relax ie not jumping OR bending knees at the coping, I go higher. The only mental part about getting air is fear of tripping over the coping on the way back down.

im afraid of getting out too much from the coping with a lot of air, then falling back on the landing on the 5 footers
